Maksym Sviezhentsev

is a historian and researcher of Crimea. In 2014, he graduated from a joint Master’s program between the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy and the University of Warsaw. In 2020, he defended his Ph.D. thesis “Phantom Limb: Russian Settler Colonialism in Post-Soviet Crimea (1991-1997)”, which focuses on the history of Russian settler colonialism in Crimea. Since the defence of his thesis, he has been preparing a monograph. In February 2022, he was forced to temporarily suspend his research due to voluntary mobilisation into the Ukrainian Armed Forces
