“Let the spring come to your house”: the war experience of a scholar and a volunteer from Irpin

On the 24th of February 2022, Anastasiia Pankova, an experienced folklorist and ethnologist, woke up to a new reality, as did all Ukrainians. Over the past year, she has come under fire from shelling, witnessed battles, left her home with only a backpack, and travelled thousands of kilometres. Despite her trials, Anastasiia contributed to the fight against the enemy by joining the ranks of volunteers. Now, she is actively helping the military and is continuing her professional work by recording the testimonies of Ukrainians who survived the occupation.…
