1. Research Grants in Ukrainian and Ukrainian-Canadian Studies in the Humanities and Social Sciences, Law, Education, and Library Sciences 2023 – 2024, Deadline – 1 March 2023.
Research grants are awarded in support of projects that have scholarly value, well-defined work plans, and modest budgets. Applicants should read the “Research Grant Application Guide” and fill out the application form.
CIUS accepts applications submitted in Ukrainian.
2. The Teodota and Ivan Klym Grants in Ukrainian Studies 2023 – 2024, Deadline – 1 March 2023.
The Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies is accepting proposals from students and scholars from universities in Ukraine (particularly Chernivtsi National University) for junior and senior research grants, fellowships, scholarly publications, and conferences.
3. The Remeza Family Research and Publications Grant 2023 – 2024, Deadline – 1 March 2023.
Awarded annually to support research and publications pertaining to the work and legacy of Bohdan Lepky and the general areas of his intellectual and creative interests. This may include works on language, literature, history, education, and culture that reflect the Lepky era.
4. The Ivan Makohon Research Grant 2023 – 2024, Deadline – 1 March 2023.
Awarded to support projects in the area of Ukrainian and Ukrainian-Canadian economic studies. Applicants should be undergraduate or graduate students from the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, or any other university in Ukraine.
5. Bukowsky Research Grant for the Study of Sustainable Development 2023 – 2024, Deadline – 1 March 2023.
The Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies invites applications for the Bukowsky Research Grant in support of research that addresses key principles of sustainable development in Ukraine.
According to a definition of the concept, sustainable development pursues the goal of long-term stability of the economy and environment that is attainable by acknowledging and integrating economic, environmental, and social concerns throughout decision-making processes . Applicants whose work focuses on sustainable economic prosperity, cultural awareness and social justice, and environmental integrity and health in Ukraine are encouraged to apply. Applicants should outline how their research reflects the goals and principles of sustainable development as outlined in UN Resolution A/RES/70/1.
This grant is made possible by funding from CIUS’s Ihor Roman Bukowsky Sustainable Development Endowment Fund.
Eligibility
Priority will be given to scholars and graduate-level students whose work is dedicated to developing a better understanding of critical scientific and social issues in sustainable development in Ukraine. Applicants from any country may apply.
